HFL Education has taken thousands of students through its hugely successful Reading Fluency Project, where struggling readers in KS3 and KS4 have achieved between 18 and 27 months of reading progress in just 8 weeks.

Drawing upon our extensive experience in reading fluency instruction, we will share some key findings with delegates including:

  • reading assessment practices which correctly diagnose dysfluency

  • key strategies for effective teaching of reading fluency

  • both at small group and whole class level

  • how to engage struggling readers with reading and the path between word reading and comprehension that is reading fluency

Why attend?

Reading fluency is the critical bridge between word recognition and comprehension. Without it, students can fall behind across the curriculum. This session equips educators with evidence-based approaches that make a real difference in a short space of time.

By attending, you will:

  • Develop confidence in identifying dysfluency

  • Gain practical tools and strategies to accelerate progress

  • Learn how to re-engage reluctant or struggling readers

  • Take away proven approaches used successfully in hundreds of schools

Who should attend?

This course is ideal for KS3:

“We have benefitted tremendously from the support of the Lacey Green English Hub in many ways. I have been upskilled as a Reading Leader and feel confident to deliver quality practice sessions and coach in RWI lessons. Our staff are very welcoming to coaching and are keen to improve with the coaching steps they have worked on. I am able to scrutinise our phonics data to ensure that we are targeting specific children and groups of children for extra support so that they keep up with their peers. Since working with the English Hub we have seen a 23% increase in our Phonics Screening Check data.”
