Governor Training
Supporting Phonics and Early Reading
About this event
At Lacey Green English Hub, we believe that EVERY child deserves the opportunity to learn to read. To support this mission, we are offering a free virtual training event for Governors from all schools, designed to provide essential knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to support and challenge reading provision in your setting.
This session will help you understand your strategic role in supporting Phonics and Early Reading and how this aligns with the Department for Education’s expectations.
What the Training Will Cover:
During the session, we will explore:
The DfE Reading Framework and what it means for schools
What Systematic Synthetic Phonics (SSP) is and how it’s delivered effectively
The role of fully decodable books in early reading
How the Phonics/Reading Leader supports staff and pupils
What schools do to ensure every child becomes a fluent reader
How Governors can support and challenge reading provision strategically
